Dear XMM help team,

I am using ESAS to analyse data of clusters. The task cheese in ESAS detects
point sources (running edetectchain) and also gives a cheese mask which can be
used to mask these sources. I would like to remove several extra sources (which
I suspect to be point sources that are not detected by cheese) while reducing my
data using the ESAS procedure. How can this be done? Could you direct me with
ways to remove these regions either from the event files or by masking them in
the imaging and spectral analysis? The standard region filtering using SAS and
then using the event file in ESAS does not work.

Dear Juhi Tiwari,

 Masking can be done in a couple of ways.  First, if there are that many extra
sources to be masked it is simple to use the region descriptor (Section 6.5.1 in
the current ESAS document).  The coordinates need to be in DETX,DETY and so need
to be determined for each detector separately.  It can also be done by creating
a source list and using the task region as noted in Section 6.4.
