I have used the "Cookbook for Analysis Procedures for XMM-Newton EPIC MOS
observations of extended sources Version 4.3"
for my research which is to be published in the Astrophysical Journal.
 Can you please give me the complete reference for the cookbook.

I would think a reference

Snowden, S. L., Kuntz, K. D., Cookbook for Analysis Procedures for XMM-Newton
EPIC MOS Observations of Extended Objects and the Diffuse Background, 2011,
Version 4.3

with a link to http://heasarc.gsfc.nasa.gov/docs/xmm/xmmhp_xmmesas.html will
do.

But as the ESAS packages was developped by our US colleagues, 
it might be better even to ask their Helpdesk directly at: 
xmmhelp@athena.gsfc.nasa.gov
