I am getting the following error after running the task 'mos_back'  for both
mos2 and exactly same error for mos1.

( command used :  mos_back prefix=2S002

I am running SAS version 9.0.0 on my linux x86_64 machine with heasoft
version 6.8.
 I have also downloaded the latest esas caldb (dated : 06 Mar 2011).

I also went through the *
http://xmm.esac.esa.int/xmmhelp/esas?id=47341;page=2;user=guest*
 which also had errror reported about mos_back. Here I think the final
solution was to upgrade to SAS version 11.0.

I just want to know will this error get resolved if I download the SAS
version 11.0 or is it because of some other reason ?

Dear Kiran,

 since ESAS was still in a developmental stage in SAS version 9, it is very well
possible that your problem will disappear with an update to the latest version.
Regardless of that, it is strongly recommended to always use the most up to date
version of software and calibration.

 In order save resources on our and your side, please update to SAS 11, and if
the problem still persists, then we can investigate.

 appologies for the delay in my answer. On 24th March, a patch 11.0.1 was
released that fixes some problems related to esas and MASK filtering, please see
the release note:

 May we kindly ask that you install the patch that you can from:

Dear Jan-Uwe,

I did not install the first patch you have suggested but I have installed
the latest esas-caldb,
 still I was able to get rid of this problem by preoperly defining the caldb
(instead of sas-caldb ($SAS_CCFPATH),
 I used esas-caldb for both mos-spectra and mos-back).
