It has a very few events but all of them have an order of magnitude higher =
values. I am also attaching an example background fits file.  After I do th=
e analysis and add both mos images together and smooth them I see an excess=
 of background around this chip. Is this a normal thing or there is somethi=
ng wrong? I noticed the same problem with background on ccd4 with another d=
ataset I am analyzing.

In Kuntz & Snowden 2008 "The EPIC-MOS particle-induced background spectra" =
I found that occasionally ccd 4 in mos1 is found in the "anonymous" state. =
Is it the case here? Should I remove this chip from my analysis?

I did not get an specific reply to the problem of CCD4 in MOS1. But the problem
you report is probably, as you have noted, due to the known issue regarding
noise
in these CCD. Have a look at the folowing link,

and also at the link given in this section to section 4.3.2 (point 'EPIC-MOS low

energy noise in two peripheral CCDs'). There is a SAS task called emtaglenoise
which allows to tag these events. See if this helps (you will fid more
information 
in the help pages of the task). If you still need any more help or information
regarding this issue, I will contact again the ESAS developers to see if they
have any further sugesstion.
