Hi,

I would like to know about the background flare correction methods given in :

https://www.cosmos.esa.int/web/xmm-newton/sas-thread-epic-filterbackground

I was following the step by step version where I get a clean event file using
evselect and tabgtigen tools. I found another method mentioned in the page where
I used espfilt tool.

I would like to ask whether I can use the espfilt tool for all observations
instead of the step by step version. Sometimes, selecting a proper rate
expression for creating a GTI file is difficult in the later method. So can I
use espfilt tool always?

Yes you can use it always, checking the results as the Thread indicates.

Best regards,

Nora
