Subject: Flag including out-of-fov region

Dear XMM helpdesk team,

Hi
I'm trying to filter EPIC event list for flaring particle background, according
to
https://www.cosmos.esa.int/web/xmm-newton/sas-thread-epic-filterbackground.
It recommends to use flag #XMMEA_EM and #XMMEA_EP for MOS and pn respectively.
However, for somewhat reason I need to include out-of-fov region and the flags
above exclude them. I tried #XMMEA_16, but it doesn't look like to filter
particle flaring.
 Is there a flag that I can filter good events while I preserve out-of-fov
regions?

Thanks,
Jaewoong

Dear Jaewoong Jung,

 in order apply #XMMEA_EM while keeping out-FOV in MOS, you can use:
      (FLAG & 0x766aa000)==0
For pn: #XMMEA_EP does not exclude out-FOV regions.

Best wishes,
Jan-Uwe Ness
