sas_16.0.0-RHEL6.8-64 seemed to install w/o problems.
evselect, tabgtigen, atthkgen all work

edetect_chain gives the following error:
fkeypar: error while loading shared libraries: libreadline.so.6: wrong ELF
class: ELFCLASS64

libreadline.so.6 is in my library path.
system info: Linux aumic.astro.sunysb.edu 2.6.32-696.1.1.el6.x86_64 #1 SMP Tue
Apr 11 17:13:24 UTC 2017 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
OS is CentOS 6

Suggestions?

Dear Dr Walter,

I have forwarded your question to the SAS expert.
Please find below his answer.

=============================================================

As far as I can deduce, we can not say whether the problem arises from a wrong
installation of Heasoft or from any other source. The user's system is a Linux
CentOS 6 64-bit (x86_64) running kernel version 2.6.32. The SAS 16.0.0 build
(sas_16.0.0-RHEL6.8-64) chosen to install is fine.
However, we do not know whether the Heasoft tool "fkeypar" which is invoked from
the perl script edetect_chain is from a binary or from a source code
installation. Assuming it is from a source code installation of Heasoft, the
"fkeypar" binary should be of type ELF 64-bit (ELFCLASS64) as well as all its
required shared libraries, among them libreadline.so.6, which is also part of
the Heasoft infrastructure code. So we are confronted with a confusing message.
It looks like the "fkeypar" would be a 32-bit binary which needs a
libreadline.so of 32-bit, but the only that is available is of 64-bit
(ELFCLASS64). Hence the error ! But I am not completely sure.

=============================================================

Following the analysis of our expert, in order to clarify the situation, we
would need some more information. Please send us the output of the following
commands:

1. fversion

This will give us the version of Heasoft that is installed.
Is the installation of Heasoft from source code or binary?

2. file <root_dir_of_the_Heasoft_installation>/ftools/x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu-libc2.12/bin/fkeypar

Here we are assuming that Heasoft is for 64-bit.
If the tool fkeypar is not located in the directory given in the previous
command,
please look for it explicitly in your installation and re-run the command.

3. ldd <root_dir_of_the_Heasoft_installation>/ftools/x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu-libc2.12/bin/fkeypar

4. file <root_dir_of
_the_Heasoft_installation>/heacore//x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu-libc2.12/lib/libreadline.so.6

5. env

Kind regards,
Lucia

Hi Lucia,

Thanks for the hints.

I wiped and re-installed the Heasoft distribution (upgrading version 16 to
version 21), which solved that problem. edetect_chain seems to work.

I'm currently having difficuties interfacing with ds9. srcdisplay does not
work because of some problems with XPA. But I can work around this.

Cheers,
Fred
