Subject: EMOS1/FWC is not a known
Full_Name: Eric Gotthelf
Submission from: (NULL) (160.39.199.159)

I'm using

sasversion:- Executing (routine): sasversion  -w 1 -V 4
sasversion:- sasversion (sasversion-1.2)  [xmmsas_20160201_1833-15.0.0] started:
 2017-02-15T18:16:59.000
sasversion:- XMM-Newton SAS release and build information:

SAS release: xmmsas_20160201_1833-15.0.0
Compiled on: Mon Feb 1 19:02:10 GMT 2016
Compiled by: sasbuild@xmac01.net4.lan
Platform   : Darwin-14.5.0 64

SAS-related environment variables that are set:

SAS_DIR = /usr/local/sas/xmmsas_20160201_1833
SAS_PATH = /usr/local/sas/xmmsas_20160201_1833
SAS_CCFPATH = /usr/local/sas/ccf
SAS_CCF = ./ccf.cif
SAS_ODF = /Users/eric/work/pulsar/g12/xmm/0552790101/ODF

I download a fresh copy of 0552790101 from the HEASAC.

I updated my sas/ccf with:

rsync -v -a --delete --delete-after --force --include='*.CCF'  --exclude='*/'
xmm.esac.esa.int::XMM_VALID_CCF /usr/local/sas//ccf/

When I run odfingest on 0552790101 it produces the following warning:

** odfingest: warning (Mismatch), EMOS1/FWC is not a known instrument/filetype
combination

When generating spectra, this produces an error:

** backscale::arfgen: warning (Mismatch), EMOS1/FWC is not a known
instrument/filetype combination

This causes backscale, arfgen, and rmfget to fail.

Thanks,
Eric

Dear Eric,

When I analyse this observation I get no such message. Could you try
using the odf from the SOC XMM-Newton archive ?

http://nxsa.esac.esa.int/nxsa-web/#search

Could you also send me the file produced by odfingest ?

    1703_0552790101_SCX00000SUM.SAS

Let me know if you get the same warning whenn running odfingest
on this odf.

Thanks,

Ignacio de la Calle
