Subject: Binning fluxed RGS spectra
Full_Name: Michael Bauer
Submission from: (NULL) (130.183.72.105)

Hello,

is there already an existing tool to bin fluxed RGS spectra (=spectra, that
rgsfluxer generates)?
I merged two spectra (RGS1 & RGS2), and now I want to rebin wavelength
channels
to smooth the spectrum.

Regards,
Michael Bauer

Dear Dr. Bauer,

There is not any specific task in SAS that rebin the fluxed spectra.

The only solution would be to re-run the 'rgsfluxer' task

(see details at http://xmm.vilspa.esa.es/sas/current/doc/rgsfluxer/index.html)

using a lower number of bins (default is 3400).

I hope this suggestion is useful.
