Deamr Madam/Sir,

I am trying to run xmmextractor with the following command:

xmmextractor paramfile=default.xml >& screenoutput.log

Unfortunately, I get the following error:

Dear Vaidehi Sharan Paliya,

xmmextractor is a perl script and there are some dependencies with the perl
version you are using some of the SAS watchouts:
https://www.cosmos.esa.int/web/xmm-newton/sas-watchout

In order to analyse the situation, please let us know under which operating
system you are running SAS.

 Best wishes,
Jan-Uwe Ness

Hello,

I am running SAS on MAC Sierra 10.12.2. I would like to add that other
general tasks, e.g. epproc, are working without any issue. For your
reference, I am also attaching the xml file I am using as input.

Thanks.

Hi,

I will discuss this tomorrow with the developers.

epproc is not a perl script so I am not surprised it works. You may have similar
issues with epchain because that is also a perl script.

Best regards,
Jan-Uwe

Dear Vaidehi Sharan Paliya,

our developers suspect the problem is related to a missing module of Perl,
Switch.pm, which implements in perl the shell built-in "case" function.

To check this, please do the following:
   1. Initialize SAS
   2. Issue the two commands
         which perldoc
         perldoc -l Switch.pm
If the Switch.pm module is indeed missing, the second command (perldoc -l)
should not show up anything about that module.

Then, issue the command
      which perl
and take the perl shown in the output to run the following command

<the_perl_shown_in_the_previous_command> -MCPAN -eshell

cpan[1]> install Switch.pm

Once the installation is finished, try to run again xmmextractor. It should be
ok now.

Please let us know if that works.

 Best wishes,
Jan-Uwe

Dear Jan-Uwe,

Thanks for suggestions. I followed them and able to run xmmextractor.
However, I am now facing another error, though I am keeping only default
settings. While running, the tool opens ds9 window, but is unable to load
the region file. Please see the attached screenshots. Second, looking at
the xmmextractor.err file, it shows the following errors

ERROR - #> Error: Computing GTI
ERROR - #> Error: Computing GTI
ERROR - #> Error: Producing Spectrum

I have attached the screenoutput.log and xmmextractor.info files with this
mail. I hope these could be helpful in debugging the issue.

Thank you for your help.

Dear Vaidehi,

sorry for the delay in answering, during the summer things move a bit slower.

I have tried a fully default xmmextractor run but cannot reproduce the problem.
For having a closer look, can you send us the "xmmextractorParam.xml" param
file?

 Thanks,
Jan-Uwe

Dear Jan-Uwe,

Sure. The xml file is attached with this mail. I hope this will help in
