Dear Ankur,

I'm afraid there is no way to introduce RA and Dec either 
in decimal degrees or sexagesimal in the evselect command.

The only solution I can think about, in order to use ecoordconv 
in a script, is to catch/redirect the output from the terminal
through some unix commands and save the values you are
interested in to variables. 

Just as an example (but you probably know something clever),
assuming that you are working in csh:

  set image = mos1_clean.ds
  set ra = 284.15
  set dec = -37.91

(Please note that RA and Dec should be provided in decimal degrees.)

  set x_ra = `ecoordconv imageset=$image x=$ra y=$dec withcoords=yes
coordtype=eqpos | awk '/X: Y:/ { print $3 }'`
  set y_dec = `ecoordconv imageset=$image x=$ra y=$dec withcoords=yes
coordtype=eqpos | awk '/X: Y:/ { print $4 }'`

Then, you can use these two variables in the evselect call:

Dear Ankur,

The event files are created for an exposure on a given camera, there is not such

thing as an event file for individual sources.

From the event files produced per exposure with epproc (for pn) and emproc (for

MOS1 or MOS2) you can create an image of the exposure, and from that image you
may 
generate scientific products (such as spectra and lightcurves) from any
individual 
source in your image.

The coordinates of the individual sources detected running 'edetect_chain'
are stored in the columns RA (source right ascension, in degrees) and DEC
(source declination, in degrees) of the source list that is produced by this
task.

In the catalogue guide, you can find only the conversion factors corresponding 
to the energy bands for which individual-band fluxes are reported in the 
catalogue itself.

As a quick-look reference, EPIC pn and MOS flux to count rate conversion for a 
variety of standard spectral models are reported at this URL:

I would suggest you to derive your own conversion factors through proper 
simulations via, e.g. the command fakeit in XSPEC. The most updated EPIC 
response matrices should be used for this purpose.

Dear Ankur,

The error about the minimum time-bin size has to do with epiclccorr: to produce

a calibrated light curve with epiclccorr, a time resolution higher than the
frame 
time (that for MOSs is the same as the integration time) should be used.

Please, try with a higher binning (possibly, not too close to the frame time 
value to avoid the appearance of artificial behaviours), and let us know if you

still have problems.

The error

qualified name srcpn.lc:RATE%EXPOSURE in attributable set RATE

means that the keyword "EXPOSURE" is not found in the header of
the extension 'RATE' in the file 'srcpn.lc'.

Could you check that the file srcpn.lc have an extension named RATE and that 
in the header of this extension there exists a keyword EXPOSURE with non-zero 
value? 
It should be case if the file has been created with evselect or xmmselect.
