Dear Sir,

I am analysing the XMM data of observation ID 0404340101 towards the
cluster Westerlund 1.
At the location of RA=16:46:17 and DEC= -45:41:52 at the edge of the
field, one ring kind of structure is seen.
Is it instrument artifact or a real image?
It is coming at that same location for other observation ID for Westerlund
1 cluster (ID 0311792001).

I will be very helpful to you if you can help me to understand this
structure.

with warm regards
Himali

Dear Himali,

we have looked at both observations and see this feature in the PN and MOS2
images but not in the MOS1 images.

The ring-like feature is very unlikely a celestial source but appears to be a
reflection of the nearby bright X-ray source 1RXS J164547.8-453642 that is
located only 0.3 degree away, at 16 45 47.80	-45 36 42.0

 Best regards,
Jan-Uwe
