xspec


    it gives error 
"xspec: error while loading shared libraries: libstdc++.so.6: cannot open
sharedobject file: No such file or directory"

Dear Manjunath,

this is most likely happening due to an incompatibility between HEADAS and SAS
libraries. Please open a new terminal (where you haven't run SAS before) and
start xspec again. Xspec should then open normally.

it seems indeed a problem related to HEASOFT. I am afraid I cannot help you with
that problem any more. I would advise that you contact the HEASOFT helpdesk
under: xanprob@athena.gsfc.nasa.gov. They should tell you if you really need a
new installation.
