Hello,

For a students project I'm doing at the moment it is required to write
a proposal for a satellite. I choose to write one for XMM Newton.
Since the goal of the project is to do the proposal as if in the real
scientific world, I would be greatly helped if it is possible to have
XRPS available. Is it possible? I won't submit any real proposals.

Thank you in advance,

Wouter Spaan

Dear Wouter,

thanks for your interest in XMM-Newton. I have asked colleagues here
responsible for the XRPS and AO related web pages if they can
temporarily be brought 'back to live' such that you can 'simulate' a
proposal submission. I will let you know if this is possible
(most likely later today or on Monday).

Cheers,
   Matthias

Thank you,

before you take off in a hurry: I don't need it soon. At the moment
I'm busy working out the scientific backrground and reading your
manuals. It will take a while before I'm prepared to begin with the
actual simulation.

Regards,

Wouter

Dear Wouter,

for the remote proposal system for XMM-Newton, please, try this page:
http://xmams.vilspa.esa.int/cgi-bin/RPS/XMM-Newton/RPS.pl

We are not 100% sure how far you can go using it, or weather it will
verify correctly but I guess for your test run it will do.

Alternatively you could try the heasarc address
(It seems (for some unknown reason) to be updated to AO-4):
http://heasarc.gsfc.nasa.gov/cgi-bin/RPS/XMM/RPS.pl

The web address for the page that has all the links to the
XMM-Newton documentations needed for the AOs (Policies, UHB,
manuals ...) is available again at
http://xmm.esac.esa.int/external/xmm_science/AO4/index.shtml

Cheers and good luck with your 'simulated' proposal.

Cheers,
   Matthias
