Dear XMM-Newton Helpdesk,

I ran the epatplot task in order to assess pile-up on MOS2 data. In the plot I
got the observed  pattern distribution is a straight line! I attach the plot
idea on this?

What is flare-screened and flare-unscreened data? Is it related to filtering or
not the data from flaring particle background? 

I would appreciate any help.

Dear Manuel, 

Your problem is that you do not have enough events in the filtered file. So
you either have extracted events from a very small region around your source,
your region is not correctly defined (it does not show up in the plot which
is unusual) or you are not extracting event from the are you think you are 
(I would need to see the filter expression you used to create the file
pn_filtered.evt). If the region is correct, then you do not need to worry 
about pile up as the source count rate is very low. The count rate limits 
as a function of mode are given here:

Dear Manuel,

I can see that in your call you have mos2 and pn related files. I dont
know if you meant or not to do that. That might be why your epatplot
results are incorrect.

About the flare-screened and flare-unscreened data, I dont know where
you saw that, but I assume it means what you say. Cant think of anything
else.
