Subject: confusion about readout in timing mode

Hi

I am confused as to whether the readout area in timing mode on MOS1 is 100 x 100
pixels or indeed 100 (rawx) x 600 (rawy). Entries 8705 and 9720 seem to
contradict each other. So could you please clarify this for me. Furthermore,
Figure 24 of http://xmm.vilspa.esa.es/external/xmm_user_support/documentation/uhb_2.1/node28.html
suggests it is 100 x 600 while the paper "The European Photon Imaging Camera on
XMM Newton" A&A Oct 4 2000 suggests it is 100 x 100.

Cheers

Dan Reed

Dear Dan,

the MOS window physical size is indeed 100x100 pixels. However, the readout is
performed continuously. Everything is as if the window would be sliding through
the
whole central chip, covering its whole 600 raws.

I hope this clarifies the issue. Please, do not hesitate to contact me again
if
not.

 Regards,

 Matteo
