Subject: mos-spectra, extract spectrum from "pie" region
Full_Name: Ian Roberts
Submission from: (NULL) (193.147.152.102)

Hello,

I am trying to extract a spectrum from a "pie" shaped region using mos-spectra,
however I am running into a parse error. My region was generated in ds9 and the
region file (in detector coordinates) is:

&&((DETX,DETY) IN pie(-2405.0556,338,1984.8288,3969.6576,90,180))

I do not get an error if instead I use a circle or box region. Is there a way
to use a pie region with mos-spectra?

Thanks!
Ian

Dear Ian,

the SAS team confirmed that there might be problems with a Panda/pie region.
However, a Polygon should work just fine.

Apologies for the inconvenience.
Kind regards
Simone

Hello Simone:

Thank you for the response. Do you know if there are any plans to address
this, or should I move forward using polygons? My analysis is better
suited to a Panda/pie region, but I can make polygons work if necessary.

Thanks,
Ian

Dear Ian,

A software change request to the SAS Team has been raised. However, it will not
be available for the
next SAS release. For the time being, you unfortunately have to use polygons.

Apologies for the inconvenience.
Kind regards
Simone
