Dear XMM Helpdesk,

In order to generate the ARF file for a 1D-annulus region (central columns
excluded) from EPIC-MOS timing mode data, I am using:

addarf "arf_full.ds arf_inner.ds" "1.0 -1.0" mos1time_annu.arf

where "arf_full.ds" is the spectrum of the full area - central columns
included,
and "arf_inner.ds" is the spectrum of the central columns,

but I get:

** addarf 1.2.7
Summing ...
 1.000E+00 * arf_full.ds
-1.000E+00 * arf_inner.ds
 ... processing:
...... file number    1
keyword not found in header
 RDARF1 1.1.0   WARNING:  reading DETNAM
...... file number    2
keyword not found in header
 RDARF1 1.1.0   WARNING:  reading DETNAM
** addarf 1.2.7   Finished

I can see a similar kind of issue has been reported in message ID 47667 but did
not see any solution to it.

Could you help me with that error?

Dear Yvan Nollet,

I am afraid that we cannot provide help on the use of 'addarf' since it is not
a
SAS task.

To extract the spectrum of a MOS observation taken in timing mode and generate
the required response files, please  follow the thread 

"Extraction of MOS spectra from point-like sources taken in timing mode"
