Subject: Unrecognised Grouping
Full_Name: Surendra Nath Borah
Submission from: (NULL) (61.2.177.135)

Respected Help Desk Staff,

While I am trying to convert MOS source and background spectra ( PN source /
background spectra also) in to XSPEC readable format (.grp), with grppha,
"unrecognised grouping" message is coming and the plot becomes unrecognisable /
or no plot (in XSPEC). In the mandatary list of grppha , the parameter / flag
GROUP is marked as FALSE. How can I resolve the problem ?

Best Regards,

Surendra Nath borah,

Dear Surendra,

first of all, you do not need to rebin the background spectra as well.
Rebinning the source+background spectra suffices.

The answer to your question depends of course on what you are exactely doing.
How do you apply the grouping in "grppha"?

 Regards, Matteo
