Subject: unexpected ccf data error
Hello,

I keep getting the same error when trying to run various tools. The
common part of the error message seems to have to do with the ccf data:

error (UnexpectedCcfData), Expected not more than 200 different energies in
`/home/idunn5/majid/xmm/sources/0110000201/CCF/EMOS1_REDIST_0034.CCF:CCD_REDISTRIBUTION-1'
but there are 486

Here is an example when I try to run backscale:

backscale spectrumset=m1.source.fits withbadpixcorr=yes
badpixlocation=mos1-events.fits.gz

but there are 486

Here is another example when I try to run rmfgen:

rmfgen rmfset=source.rmf spectrumset=source.pi
** rmfgen: warning (NoDSSPatterns), There is no PATTERN range info in the
DSS. Assume the fu
ll range of patterns has been used.

but th
ere are 486

Any suggestions? I have ftp'ed the complete CCF set as well as the rmf
files.

Many thanks in advance.

Walid Majid

Dear Dr. Majid,

Please, find enclosed the answer from our expert:

this is probably caused by a non-standard binned spectrum.
For the MOS the binning has to be 800 bins of 15 channels
from 0-11999. This is set to change but I haven't fixed
it yet to make the code more general.

If it does not work, please send the spectrum as attachment
to mbreitfe@xmm.vilspa.esa.es

With best regards,
