Subject: MOS responses for timing mode?

Hello,

On your web pages (see urls below), I read that "MOS response files
include now ALL available observation modes". However, I do not find
the MOS responses for timing mode.

http://xmm.vilspa.esa.es/external/xmm_sw_cal/calib/epic_files.shtml
ftp://xmm.vilspa.esa.es/pub/ccf/constituents/extras/responses/mos/

Where can I find the MOS responses for timing mode?

Thank you, best regards,

Laurence Boirin

Dear Laurence Boirin

thank you very much for informing us about the missing MOS responses
for timing mode. These files should become available on our www
probably by tomorrow - I will let you know.

Best regards,
Matthias.

Dear Laurence

the MOS responses for timing mode are now available at our ftp server:

ftp://xmm.vilspa.esa.es/pub/ccf/constituents/extras/responses/mos/

Best regards,
Matthias

Dear Matthias,

Two more points:

- Apparently, there is a typo in the name of the MOS timing mode
responses: we should read "_ti_" (for timing mode) instead of "_tu_".

- All the MOS timing mode responses currently on the server are
for pattern 0 only. Is that because it is better to use only
pattern 0 for MOS timing mode? Or should we expect MOS timing mode
responses for patterns 0-12 to be available too?

Best regards,
Laurence

Dear Laurence,

thanks for pointing out the inconsistency of the file names - we will
not change the names but plan to update the web page describing
the MOS file name convention.

Re the pattern selection:
for MOS Timing mode it is recommended to use only pattern 0
and that's why only these response matrices have been made
available.

Cheers,
Matthias.
