Dear XMM Help Desk,

I'm getting errors when running attcalc on the blank sky file
PN.M.FF.EVLIRA.FIT downloaded from
http://xmm.vilspa.esa.es/external/xmm_sw_cal/background/blank_sky.shtml

The command I ran was:
attcalc -w 0 -V 0 eventset=PN.M.FF.EVLIRA.FIT attitudelabel=fixed fixed
ra=$ra_pnt fixeddec=$dec_pnt fixedposangle=$pa_pnt withatthkset=N
refpointlabel=us
er nominalra=$ranom nominaldec=$decnom

and the error I get is:
** attcalc: error (FITSIO), FITS error 107 while accessing file
'PN.M.FF.EVLIRA.FI
T': tried to move past end of file
Error reading elements 1 thru 9360 from column 1 (ffgcld).

Is there a problem with the file?

Thanks!
~Stephanie

Dear Stephanie,

I have the impression that you did not transfer the file completly.
This can happen quite easily if the ftp connection is unstable
and esp. as the blanksky files are really big.

Please check the file size of your downloaded file against the size listed at
ftp://xmm.esac.esa.int/pub/ccf/constituents/extras/background/epic/blank_sky/latest/

I just tried the command that you listed myself on the PN.M.FF.EVLIRA.FIT file
and it worked flawless.

All the best,
  Matthias

Dear Matthias,

We re-downloaded the file and it works fine now.

Thanks!
~Stephanie
