Dear XMM helpdesk

I would like to propose for AO18 a ToO monitoring of several days (10? 20? not
clear yet, with 1 pointing each day of ~20ks). I would like to know if there is
intrinsic programmatic
limitations with XMM to schedule with short notice observations in several
consecutive orbits which are based on a ToO trigger.

Thanks a lot for your help.

Best regards

Dear Dr. Petrucci,

There is not any a-priori limitation with respect to this type of monitoring
programmes.

Dear Rosario

Thanks for your answer. May I ask you another question then.

I will ask for a ToO monitoring of 20 days (30ks per day) but this could be
shortened if, thanks to other information, I reached the goal before the end of
the 20 days. I could then propose to the XMM SOC to stop the monitoring to safe
time. Is it something that you can . easily . do with the observing plan? I
guess this could be valuable for you only in the case where a large part of the
monitoring (and not only 1 or 2 pointings) could be saved right? Or you will
have to complete the all monitoring anyway?

Thanks for your help.

Dear Pierre-Olivier,

In principle, there is no problem in the strategy you suggest. If requested, we
could stop the monitoring (might be that we still need to complete a few
pointings, if they are already scheduled). Nevertheless, this should be
discussed in detail once the proposal is approved, during the Enhancement
phase.

But as I said, it should be feasible.

Regards,

Rosario
